Pearly Clark Brown

Menopause Nurse

I am a Lead Menopause Nurse and have a special interest in the vaginal, vulval and bladder changes which can occur during and after the menopause and in libido changes. Having worked as a senior nurse within a range of women’s healthcare settings for almost 3 decades, I am dedicated to providing care and support for women going through the  menopause. I strive to ensure their health and wellbeing is protected and nurtured as they transition through this important and unavoidable life stage.

About

I am a published author for a range of clinical, magazine and digital content relating to the menopause. Having undergone a very early menopause due to cancer treatment at 31 and having seen my periods return a decade later, I went through a second, natural menopause at 48 which gave me the passion and determination to re-train in the menopause speciality and understand more about how the menopause affects the mind, body, our relationships and social aspects of a woman’s life.

Approach

Going through the menopause twice (once medically induced and then later – naturally) I feel very accustomed to the broad range and the severity of symptoms which can affect us physically, intimately and mentally during the menopause and I feel very passionate about offering timely care to those who are struggling personally at this time in life. No woman should ever be left to navigate this life stage without specialist care, advice and treatment options explained to them.

By going over the symptoms you disclose to me, I can explain why this may be happening at this time and talk you through a range of evidence-based treatment options which you might like to consider. I can also demonstrate several medical treatment options to you during our call so that you are completely familiar with your own individualised options once you leave the call.

Experience

I worked previously within a Family Planning and Sexual Health service as a senior specialist nurse and within a women’s private clinic as a Nurse Counsellor. I have also worked as a senior menopause practitioner for a large digital healthcare provider. I am a qualified Independent Prescriber and hold Diplomas as a Registered Nurse and from the Faculty of Reproductive Health. Having completed several individual menopause courses over the last 5 years I am now undergoing training to become a British Menopause Society Accredited Menopause Specialist. I am a member of the British Menopause Society and I regularly work alongside Menopause Charity to ensure more women get the help they need at this time.
