Menopause support – how far have we come?

Menopause support - how far have we come?

Have your say: Help us to shape the future of wellbeing support

The menopause is a stage of life that no woman can avoid, but until recently it was rarely discussed. Over the last few years, there’s been a significant shift in recognising and addressing the menopause in the workplace, with lots of organisations introducing new support and policies to help their employees.

This support has been desperately needed, as two-thirds of women over 45 say that their working life has been negatively affected by the menopause.

In addition, 30% of women have taken sick leave due to their menopause symptoms.

However, 90% of workplaces still have no formal support for women experiencing menopause. Despite how far we’ve come, is it possible that the increased awareness and discussions about menopause have not led to real action?

Do historical taboos continue to hold back individuals accessing support at work? How well are companies doing at promoting the support they do have? And how can we effectively track progress?

To try and tackle these big questions, we’re asking a handpicked group of HR, wellbeing and menopause experts for their thoughts. Your views will provide a valuable voice to our study and help us to shape the future of HR and employee wellbeing!

Our aim is to take these survey responses and insights to develop an unbiased report on how far we’ve come with menopause support.

“On the surface, it looks like we’ve come a long way in supporting menopause in the workplace. We’re seeing business leaders talking more openly about menopausal challenges, as well as more companies announcing new policies. But despite this, there seems to be a real gap between what’s being said by organisations and real widespread change. Join our wellbeing revolution to help us find out where we are with menopause support.”
