About
My reason for training to be a therapist was due to my own experience of how powerful therapy can be when in personal crisis. My own life went through a very turbulent time some years ago with a variety of difficult life issues happening in a short space of time. I was completely overwhelmed and needed an anchor. My therapy not only enabled me to cope with what was happening at the time but gave me the tools to help me cope with future situations. I also gained a huge amount of self-awareness of my past and how this affects my everyday life, from dealing with stress, my style of resolving conflicts to how I function in relationships.
I began my counselling training in 2010, qualified in 2014 and have done many additional trainings in the last 11 years to further enhance my counselling skills and gain knowledge of how to facilitate clients with their issues. I’m very proud of the work that I do with my clients and how I can help others, in the same way that counselling helped me.
Approach
My initial aim is to build a trusting working relationship with you, by offering you time and space to off load, think, speak and explore what is concerning you.
I can help you to work through your difficulties by being with you in your storm and working with you to calm the waters.
Together we can uncover the problems and, if appropriate, adjust what needs changing to uncover a more satisfying life. Furthermore, I believe we all have our own inner resources to help us through our difficult times in life. I’d like to help you find yours.
My integrative way of working includes using various schools of theory, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Acceptance and Commitment therapy and Attachment theory.
