Siggy Verelest

Pyschotherapist

I am an integrative therapist with 12 years of experience supporting adults, adolescents, and couples. Originally from Belgium, I studied Fashion Design, Film directing, hypnotherapy, psychotherapy and Chinese medicine.

For the past four years, I have been based in London, where I work as both a psychotherapist and a practitioner of Chinese medicine.

About

My path to becoming a therapist began with a fascination for identity and human expression. Starting in fashion design, I explored clothing as a medium for self-expression and cultural identity. This interest deepened during my Master’s in Film Directing, where I studied relational dynamics and emotional expression through role-play.

Motivated to alleviate suffering, I pursued studies in hypnotherapy in the UK and later earned a Master’s in Psychotherapy in Australia. While living in Spain, I established a retreat center, offering self-development programs focused on body-oriented meditation, deep breathing, and muscle relaxation—practices that still shape my work today. Most recently, I completed a Master’s in Traditional Chinese Medicine in Barcelona, further exploring the link between emotional health and energetic balance.

Having lived in Belgium, Australia, Spain, and now London, I value internationality and enjoy working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Approach

As an integrative therapist, I adjust my approach to the individual. Generally, I focus on generating greater self-understanding, self-love, and the development of one’s uniqueness. I am skilled in dealing with the complexities of life and contrasting feelings and desires, and believe that insight into our inner conflicts will naturally lead to more compassion and will provide us with more fulfilment in our lives. I also enjoy working with seemingly trivial issues that can trigger big feelings of anxiety and self-doubt.

Rather than labelling and diagnosing each problem, I interpret psychological difficulties as an attempt to make the best possible adjustment to an earlier or present unhealthy environment or unpleasant experience.

My active approach to therapy means that I assist my clients in finding new ways to interact with the world and themselves. If we want certain things to change in our lives or within ourselves, we will have to start creating new internal patterns and external habits. If we continue to do the same things, we are going to keep getting the same results.

Experience

I have been a psychotherapist for university students, private practice clients, and Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) for over 12 years. Additionally, I design and deliver workshops focused on mental health and topics related to the human experience.

My areas of expertise include relationship challenges, dating, infidelity, identity exploration, career and purpose, spiritual and existential struggles, OCD, self-esteem and confidence issues, anxiety, fears, and phobias.
