Psychotherapist & Counsellor
I have experience working with a range of issues, such as bereavement, life changes, anxiety, low self-esteem, feelings of overwhelm. I work with people from all sorts of professional, religious and cultural backgrounds.
It is so important that your counsellor is someone that you feel you can trust and build a real connection with. Feel free to get in touch and we can figure out whether we would be suited to work together.
About
I am an integrative therapist – which means I am not married to a particular approach but can adapt my way of working according to your preferences. I would describe the way that I work as providing my clients with a space where they can work through their difficulties, struggles and challenges without the fear of judgment or criticism. It is a space for exploration and acceptance – somewhere we can look together at the many aspects of your life, whether they belong to your past, your everyday or your future. I am not here to give you advice or tell you what to do but I see my role as supporting you to find a way forward through whatever it is that you are grappling with. I will be interested in your experience, I will try to understand your world and bring the occasional challenge or alternative perspective.
Approach
The approaches influencing my work are mainly humanistic and psychodynamic and I also like introducing creative and somatic tools/exercises when that could be beneficial. I believe that the most important factor in the success of personal therapy is the development of a safe and trusting relationship between yourself and your therapist and I see it as part of my job to try and facilitate that as much as I can.
Experience
I work with a lot of European / foreign clients. I believe that the experience of navigating life in a foreign country adds a very unique layer to our experiences and can often be overlooked in therapy. My own experience of being an “expat” or immigrant gives me a good grasp of what that can be like.
I work in the community through a local bereavement service and a London counselling agency. I have worked with a local care home as well, providing support to staff and residents. Alongside the community work, I have my private practice and I work in person (face to face), on Zoom and outdoors!
