Amy Cheseldine
Sleep Consultant for Adults & Teenagers
Hi I’m Amy, an Accredited & Certified Sleep Consultant Practitioner for adults and teenagers (aged 13+) and am passionate about using sleep as a tool to maximise long term health & wellbeing. I focus on holistic ways to improve sleep to help people feel and perform their best.
About
I work with a broad spectrum of people from teens aged 13+, all the way up to adults in their 70s and beyond, from a variety of different backgrounds. I am based in East London and work with clients across the UK and Internationally. After having my own insomnia struggles after having a baby, I fully understand how crucial sleep is to our health and quality of life!
The types of sleep challenges I can help with include: insomnia (difficult falling asleep, waking during the night or early mornings), stress or anxiety related sleep issues, poor sleep habits & routines, irregular sleep schedules, low sleep quality, low energy & tiredness, jet lag, work performance impacted by poor sleep, sleep during pregnancy, menopause and after having children, nightmares, sleep affected by another medical condition and more.
My clients are often people who feel like they’ve tried ‘everything’ to improve sleep themselves but have not seen the improvements they want, or those who do not want to take sleeping medication, as this doesn’t provide a long term solution for them or resolve the underlying root cause of their sleep challenge.
Approach
I believe that everyone is capable of being a ‘good sleeper’, if they are armed with the right knowledge, tools & techniques to enable them to achieve this. I focus on a holistic approach to sleep that considers the interconnectedness of many factors that contribute to sleep quality & duration. Effective, long term improvements in sleep are most likely to come from making a series of small adjustments, that are done consistently over a period of time, rather than there being one ‘silver bullet’ solution. These ‘adjustments’ maybe actual things you are doing, or shifting your thinking and mindset around sleep. For this reason sessions may cover a wider variety of topics, such as lifestyle & behavioural factors (e.g work life, stress & anxiety, exercise, nutrition and more), your sleep environment, as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques that are proven to improve sleep quality and duration.
Experience
Experience
After undertaking an initial Accredited Sleep Consultant Practitioner diploma, I then went onto gain my global Certification as a Holistic Sleep Coach from the International Parenting & Health Institute. Additional certificate courses & training undertaken to further supplement my work include:
- Cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-i)
- Acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT)
- Science of better sleep
- Sleep during the menopause
- Anxiety management
I am a member of the Association of Professional Sleep Consultants & The British Sleep Society), as well as receiving ongoing support and guidance from the International Parenting & Health Institute.
Additionally, I have a previous corporate background in the media and advertising industry, as well as being a high level ice skater growing up and subsequently figure skating coach, so I deeply understand the impact our wellbeing (and particularly our sleep) has on performance. Struggling with insomnia myself after having my son set me on my path of helping others improve their sleep using holistic methods.
My combination of corporate experience, high level sports background and sleep expertise makes me uniquely placed to support those struggling with their sleep & wellbeing whilst maintaining high pressured jobs and busy lives.
